'Forgotten' short animation

Forgotten is an experimental animated short by the talented Mawrgan Shaw that I had the pleasure of composing the score and doing all the sound design for. Projects like this are always fantastic to work on because they’re so inspiring.

Besides the piece being incredibly visually engaging, it’s offers a poignant message about the all-too-relevant issue of isolation for the elderly.

I love writing emotional music and creating engaging atmospheres, and a piece like this perfectly lends itself to this kind of mood in the creative process. Sounds and melodies just kind of flow out when writing to source material like Forgotten.

While not released publicly yet, the film has been enjoying a successful festival run including the Ce l'ho Corto Film Festival in Italy, the Giant Incandescent Resonating Animation Festival in western Canada, the Hamilton Film Festival, the Ottawa International Animation Festival, and was a top pick at the Etiuda & Anima festival in Kraków, Poland.

I even had the pleasure of attending a screening of the film in Ottawa, which was a great experience. A great program and always reassuring hearing your work sounding good in a cinema. Mission accomplished!
